RACES Communication Unit Leader Wanted
Kent County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (KCRACES) is looking for an experienced amateur radio enthusiast to fill the roll of the Communications Unit leader. This is a volunteer position. Candidates must be willing to make a two-year (minimum) commitment.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Coordinates KCRACES communications unit activations
- Advises KCRACES leadership on potential severe weather activation
- Operates net control when other net controllers are not available
- Trains net controllers
- Creates / updates communications plans as needed
- Advises KCRACES coordinator on communications specific issues
- Works with other KCRACES unit leaders to fulfill communications needs to successfully complete missions
KCRACES Communication Unit Leader requirements:
- Must join Kent County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
- Willing to make a two-year commitment to the position
- Amateur Radio License
- Own Dual band Amateur Radio’s both mobile and handheld
- Previous radio operations experience
- Ability to sustain radio operations from home
- FEMA IS-22, IS-100.b
