Kent County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (KCRACES) is looking for an experienced amateur radio enthusiast to fill the roll of the Communications Unit leader.  This is a volunteer position.  Candidates must be willing to make a two-year (minimum) commitment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Coordinates KCRACES communications unit activations
• Advises KCRACES leadership on potential severe weather activation
• Operates net control when other net controllers are not available
• Trains net controllers
• Creates / updates communications plans as needed
• Advises KCRACES coordinator on communications specific issues
• Works with other KCRACES unit leaders to fulfill communications needs to successfully complete missions

KCRACES Communication Unit Leader requirements:

• Must join Kent County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
• Willing to make a two-year commitment to the position
• Amateur Radio License
• Own Dual band Amateur Radio’s both mobile and handheld
• Previous radio operations experience
• Ability to sustain radio operations from home
• FEMA IS-22, IS-100.b

Reports to the Kent County RACES Coordinator or designee.
